Seoul Seoul has been the capital of South Korea since 1948 and is located in the Northwest part of the country. Rich in culture and tradition with over 600 years of history, it is home to over 10 million registered citizens. Seoul is a very busy city with over 1 million registered cars - traffic jams happen even after midnight. Its density has allowed it to become of the most technologically advanced cities in today’s globally connected economy. Seoul has something for everyone! |

Daegu The metropolitan city of Daegu (also spelled Taegu) is the third largest city in South Korea. During the Joseon Dynasty, the city was the administrative, economic and cultural center of the entire Gyeongsang region. This role has been taken over by the city of Busan. Since the war, the city underwent explosive growth and the population increased tenfold. The main industries of Daegu are textiles, metals and machine building. Daegu is known for the quality of its apples and for having the most winners of the Miss Korea beauty pageant. The most popular tourist destinations in Daegu are Apsan (a mountainous park with trails), Buddhist temples, a Korean War museum, and a gondola ride to the peak of Palgongsan, which houses many historic Buddhist temples, including Pagyesa and Donghwasa. |

Pusan Pusan is the second largest city in Korea. As a major port city, there are many sea routes to Japan and to the rest of the world. Pusan also boasts scenic views of nature with the Nakdong River bordering the ocean at the south. Its landscape includes a coastline of fine beaches, scenic islets and tall mountains. The world famous Chalgalchi Market, near the very active port, is an area of narrow street stalls and is well known for its fish. The Pusan International Film Festival is held annually and attracts movie enthusiasts from around the world. |

Jeju-do Jeju-do is the premier tourist destination and honeymoon spot in Korea because of the stunning natural scenery and superior tourist amenities. Scenic beaches, waterfalls, cliffs and caves along with the mild weather make Jeju-do an ideal tourist destination. Jeju-do lies in the Korean Strait, southwest of Jeollanam Province, which it was a part of before it became a separate province in 1946. The Jungmun Tourist Complex is a comprehensive tourist resort and provides top-quality accommodations and tourist facilities. |

Gwangju Gwangju is mentioned in travel journals as a transportation hub. There is a great deal to see for any visitor or teacher. Art Street (near city hall) is a definite must for anyone who has an eye for art and/or antiques. If antiques are not your thing, the culinary experience, alone, is worth the visit. Gwangju has a deserved reputation as having the best assortment of Korean food available on the peninsula. |
